For more than two decades, David R. Schuler, Ph.D., has empowered educational leaders and inspired young minds to achieve success within, and well beyond, schoolhouse walls and district lines. As the ninth Executive Director of AASA, The School Superintendents Association, he brings a forward-thinking approach and a strong track record in strategic innovation, legislative advocacy, team building, and school leadership.


Dr. Schuler's 22-year career as a superintendent in rural, urban, and suburban settings is marked by a dedication to enhancing student achievement and readiness for college, career, and life beyond high school. His leadership has been acknowledged with numerous accolades, including being named Superintendent of the Year at both the state and national levels. At AASA, Dr. Schuler is building on this legacy with ambitious goals such as the
recently launched Public Education Promise – a bold commitment to providing every child in every community access to a highly effective education that prepares them for college, career, and real life in the real world.
