District technology leaders sit at the center of many of today’s biggest initiatives, including AI integration, digital learning, cybersecurity, data systems, and instructional innovation. Too often these efforts move forward in parallel across departments, creating initiative overload, fragmented implementation, and change that fails to last.
This session explores how district leaders can move from initiative “whack-a-mole” to coordinated strategy. Drawing on work with districts and state leaders on AI adoption, learning acceleration, and educator workforce innovation, the session highlights practical approaches for aligning initiatives around a shared vision for teaching and learning.
Participants will examine how technology leaders can surface fragmentation, coordinate work across instructional and operational teams, and sequence initiatives to build momentum rather than overwhelm systems. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to move from disconnected efforts to coherent, durable change.
