District Dialogue: Crafting Smart and Sustainable Cell Phone Guidelines

Facing growing concerns about the impact of devices on learning and well-being, our district convened a diverse working group to develop cell phone policies for students across the district. This session outlines our research-informed process, which brought together students, parents, and educators to craft equitable, grade-specific guidelines. We will share the rationale behind our differentiated approaches for elementary, middle, and high schoolers, alongside lessons learned from peer districts. Attendees will gain a roadmap for successful implementation, including logistical solutions such as locking pouches and classroom storage, as well as strategies for supporting families and staff in developing healthier digital habits.
