Dr. Allison Powell is the Chief Academic Officer of DLAC (the Community Advancing Digital Learning), a national membership organization dedicated to advancing quality in K–12 digital learning. Through research, events, standards development, and policy engagement, DLAC works to illuminate key issues, share best practices, and support practitioners, policymakers, and education leaders across the country.
With more than two decades of experience in online and blended learning, Dr. Powell is widely recognized as a national leader in the field. She served as Vice President for State and District Services at the International Association for K–12 Online Learning (iNACOL), where she provided technical assistance and strategic guidance to districts, state agencies, and international partners, including Clark County School District, New York City’s iLearnNYC, multiple state departments of education, and the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
Dr. Powell is a project leader and co-author of the National Standards for Quality Online Courses and Teaching and contributed to the development of the National Standards for Quality Online Programs. She has authored and contributed to major research studies on K–12 online learning in the United States and internationally.
Previously, she was a Senior Learning Strategist at BloomBoard, supporting states and districts in rethinking educator professional learning and licensure systems using microcredentials.
Dr. Powell began her career as a licensed teacher in face-to-face, blended, and online environments and helped launch the Clark County School District’s Virtual High School. She holds a doctorate in Educational Technology and Leadership from Pepperdine University and is a frequent speaker at education and policy events worldwide.
