Dr. Melissa McCalla serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Pasadena Independent School District, where she provides strategic leadership for a team of over 125 professionals supporting 45,000 students and 7,800 staff. As a key partner on the Superintendent’s executive cabinet, she has been instrumental in driving district-wide innovation, including the development of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan and the management of an annual budget exceeding $20M.
Melissa is deeply committed to the CoSN and TETL communities, actively contributing to the national dialogue on the future of educational technology. She currently serves on the CoSN Ed-Tech Innovation and the K-12 Environmentally Sustainable Technology Committees and the Texas Education Technology Leaders (TETL) Leadership Development Committee. Her leadership extends to her role on the ParentSquare Advisory Council, where she advises on best practices for school communications and family engagement.
A recognized thought leader, Melissa has a proven track record of scaling impactful learning models, including expanding personalized learning from 9 to 45 campuses. She is a frequent presenter at conferences, sharing expertise on systems leadership, Generative AI frameworks, and digital wellness.
Melissa holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston, is a CETL®-certified educational technology leader, and is a graduate of the CoSN K-12 CTO Academy. She is eager to connect with fellow leaders to discuss strategic opportunities in systems leadership,innovation, infrastructure sustainability, and whole child education to improve student outcomes and ensure a future ready graduates.
