Deborah Kerr is Superintendent of St. Francis Public School District in St. Francis, Wisconsin, overseeing more than 1100 students, 100 teachers, and student body where 50% are economically disadvantaged. St. Francis is a public school district of choice as over 50% of the enrollment comes from over 50 Metro Milwaukee schools. Leading this "diamond of a district," Deborah spearheaded a successful $30.6M referendum paving the way for new learning spaces which opened in the Fall of 2022. With a four-decade career dedicated to educating children, Deborah has held prominent leadership roles in regional, state, and national educational organizations. She served as president of American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA), advocating for all kids and demonstrating a steadfast commitment to closing achievement gaps with achieving nearly perfect graduation rates in her own diverse districts. Notably, she has championed diverse recruitment efforts across teaching, administrative, and school board positions, setting a benchmark in Milwaukee region and state. Her national leadership continues with benig elected Board Chair for the Education Market Association and an EdMarket Certified Larning Speciaist Deb’s leadership also passionately promotes the advancement of women leaders and women of color in leadership roles. She spearheads nationwide women's networking events, including in Wisconsin, fostering a robust network that empowers all women to thrive and excel in their leadership journey. Our girls must witness leaders who not only hold key positions but also reflect their own backgrounds within our school communities. By each of us actively recruiting talented staff members into leadership pathways, we can ensure our schools better represent the diverse female populations they serve. Deb has led “Bold Women - Bold Conversation” women’s networking events across the country bringing women together to thrive, network, and rise.
