MJ has been in education for 31 years, serving as a classroom teacher, professional developer, edtech trainer, and district-level administrator in Illinois. She currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer for a large northwest suburban PreK-8 school district for a diverse population of students. MJ has led initiatives in developing instructionally “better” practices and building vibrant digital learning ecosystems including Google Workspace for Education (since 2005), learning management systems, data dashboard platforms, student information systems, data privacy structures, AI-enhanced tools - integrating technology tools into 1:1 digital learning environments. MJ serves as a board member for the Illinois Education Technology Leaders association, the Illinois chapter of CoSN. She has presented at local and national conferences during her notable career as an Edtech educator and leader. She also produces and hosts the acclaimed IETL podcast with her partner, Tony Schlorff (a current board member of CoSN). Her passion has been for students (and educators!) to discover their voice and express their most creative and productive selves to contribute positively to a global community.
When she is not geeking out at school, MJ can be found at a yoga studio practicing her downward-dog, being a mom to her college-aged daughter, or walking her dog with her husband in the parks by her home in Morton Grove.
