Mark D. Benigni, Ed.D., is a distinguished educator with over 30 years of experience, including 16 as Superintendent of Meriden Public Schools. His diverse career journey spans from special education teacher to mayor of Meriden, culminating in his impactful leadership in education.
Under Dr. Benigni’s guidance, Meriden Public Schools has achieved unprecedented success, reaching its highest academic scores in district history and earning widespread acclaim. He has been recognized as AASA’s and CoSN’s Digital Superintendent of the Year and was selected by EdWeek as a Leader to Learn From. Dr. Benigni’s influence extends statewide; he previously led the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents and the Connecticut Association of Urban Districts, and currently co-chairs the State of Connecticut Alliance Districts.
A published author and presenter, Dr. Benigni has taught doctoral classes, contributed to numerous publications, and authored two books. His third book, Leveraging Social Media for District Improvement, is anticipated from Bloomsbury Publishing.
