Dr. Sheryl R. Abshire, distinguished educator and visionary leader, has made a lasting impact at the intersection of education and technology. Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership, her extensive career includes roles as teacher, librarian, principal, assistant professor and CTO for the award-winning Calcasieu Parish Public Schools. She is an ISTE Certified Educator and certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator. Dr. Abshire has been a trailblazer in integrating technology into education, playing a pivotal role in establishing ISTE National Education Technology Standards and contributing to the U.S. DOE National Educational Technology Plan. Her global influence is evidenced by her presentations at major conferences and leadership on numerous boards, including the USAC Board for ERATE matters. Her accolades include the CoSN Seymore Papert Lifetime Achievement Award and being the first ISTE Public Policy Advocate of the Year. She was honored by President Clinton and Secretary Riley at the White House for her induction as the first teacher into the National Teachers Hall of Fame. She was honored with the 2025 Founders Award from NCTET (National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training) for her life's work of advocating for educational technology. A prolific author, Dr. Abshire has published extensively on educational technology, co-authoring Blueprints on Personalized Learning, Cybersecurity, IT Integration, Academics, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Artificial Intelligence in addition to her recent ISTE book, The Savvy EdTech Leader.
