Susan M. Bearden, CETL, CCRE is the Director of Product Marketing for Identity Automation, a Jamf Company. A nationally recognized education technology leader, her career spans the classroom, the C-suite, and the policy table. In her current role, she helps K-12 and higher education institutions navigate the intersection of identity, access management, and cybersecurity, translating complex technology into practical strategies that support learning, protect students, and empower IT teams.
A former K-12 technology director, Susan brings a practitioner's perspective to every conversation about edtech. She previously served as Chief Innovation Officer for CoSN, Director of Digital Programs for InnovateEDU, and as a Senior Education Pioneers Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology. Most recently, she co-authored the U.S. Department of Education's 2024 National Education Technology Plan in partnership with SETDA â a testament to her influence on national policy.
Susan is the author of "Digital Citizenship: A Community-Based Approach." As a K12 IT practicioner, her thought leadership earned her recognition as one of the Center for Digital Education's "Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers," the ISTE "Making IT Happen" Award, the ATLIS Pillar Award, and the Bammy Award for School Technologist of the Year.
At CoSN 2026, Susan brings both strategic vision and operational expertise to conversations about seamless identity, cybersecurity, and the role of technology in creating equitable, future-ready learning environments.
