Ed Wagner is the Chief Information Officer for Chicago Public Schools, bringing more than 28 years of progressive leadership across the district’s technology ecosystem. A lifelong Chicagoan and product of CPS, Ed has directed enterprise-wide technology operations spanning infrastructure, applications, cyber security, data governance, and digital transformation.
Ed is a purpose-driven leader committed to harnessing technology to expand student opportunity, improve educator effectiveness, and advance equity across all 316,000 students and 46,000 staff. He champions high-impact, sustainable solutions while actively reducing technical debt and strengthening the district’s long-term technology foundation.
Ed holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. He combines deep technical expertise with a relentless focus on outcomes that drive academic success and operational excellence.
