With over two decades of dedicated service to the Special School District of St. Louis County, Douglas Austin has been instrumental in advancing the district's technological landscape. Promoted to Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in June 2013, Doug has led the district in leveraging innovative solutions to enhance both education and operations.
Special School District of St. Louis County is the largest specialized education provider in Missouri, equipping and empowering students of all learning abilities to excel to their greatest potential. The district offers a comprehensive range of services, including special education and career and technical education programs, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Under Doug's leadership, the district has launched several key technological initiatives. These include the implementation of advanced assistive technology services to support students with disabilities, and the integration of cutting-edge cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and ensure a secure learning environment. Additionally, the district has invested in modernizing its IT infrastructure to improve efficiency and support innovative educational tools.
Prior to stepping into the CTO role, Doug served as Interim CTO from June 2012 to June 2013, demonstrating strong leadership and strategic vision. From May 2011 to June 2012, he held the position of Director of Information Technology, further solidifying his expertise in managing complex IT infrastructures and initiatives.
A distinguished professional in the field, Doug holds multiple industry-recognized certifications, including CETL (Certified Education Technology Leader) and CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). His commitment to technological excellence and cybersecurity continues to drive progress within the district, ensuring a secure and innovative learning environment for students and educators alike.
