Dr. Shanique Worthey is a wife, mom, educator, and technologist! She loves anything that supports preparing students of all ages with innovative skills for our ever-changing world! Dr. Worthey has 20 years of educational experience with the DeKalb County School District. She serves as a strategic interface between stakeholders and the Department of Information and Instructional Technology and has participated in strategic planning for innovative projects, like Tech Dash for Leaders, Tech for Littles, Parent Tech Cafe, Cyber Champions, webmasters, and FUSE (Furthering Student Engagement) Cohorts with promoting awareness, encouraging expansion, and facilitating integration with the district’s digital tools.
As an educational leader, she has earned Teacher of the Year for both Wadsworth Elementary School, in 2008, and Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy, in 2019! Dr. Worthey is also on the Tech & Learning Advisory Board and was recognized by their organization as an Innovative Instructional Technology Specialist. She enjoys connecting with all stakeholders and community partners to build effective teams to integrate technology safely, legally, and ethically. Her doctoral capstone product investigated collaborative teams and their impact on technology integration in teaching and learning. She is also certified in Cybersecurity, Instructional Technology, Gifted, and Elementary Education (P-5). She is an alumnus of Spelman College (B.A.), Grand Canyon University (M.Ed.), the University of West Georgia (Ed.S.), and Capella University (Ed.D.).
Currently, Dr. Worthey is the inaugural Manager of Security Awareness and Engagement for the district and her goal is to leverage her expertise in instructional technology and strategic planning to lead and implement security awareness programs that foster a culture of cybersecurity, empowering students, employees, and community partners to integrate security best practices, that will result in enhancing the district's cybersecurity posture and mitigating human risks.
