Passion and purpose define how Mia approaches inclusive education for students with disabilities. With over 25 years of experience, she is committed to ensuring all students—especially those with complex learning, communication, and behavior needs—have access to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education.
Mia brings deep expertise in educational and assistive technology, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and inclusive instructional design. Her work centers on removing barriers for students, educators, and families, and designing systems that embed accessibility into everyday practice.
She has delivered keynotes and presented nationally and internationally on inclusive technology systems, assistive technology, and UDL. Prior to joining CAST, Mia served as a Technology & Learning Resource Specialist in Florida, providing technical assistance across seven diverse districts—including virtual, charter, rural, and one of the largest in the nation.
She has collaborated on major grant initiatives to drive systems change and build inclusive ecosystems where technology, instruction, and assessment are aligned. As an educator from Pre-K through college in both inclusive and self-contained classrooms, Mia brings practical insights and empathy to her work.
Her work has been recognized with honors such as Orange County Public Schools Top 5 Teacher of the Year. Whether coaching teams or cracking a “punny” joke, Mia connects with people through laughter, learning, and love.
Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking, yoga, exploring new places with family and friends, and building community through food and storytelling.
